Virtual or In-Person

Driver Education Program

Completing a certified Driver Education Program course includes 30 hours of classroom learning and six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, a requirement for all new Maryland drivers, regardless of age.

The classroom component runs 3 hours a day for ten consecutive days (Monday through Friday) or five consecutive weekends (Saturday & Sunday).

There are also six hours of in-car driving. Students may request access to schedule the in-car lessons anytime after the 5th day of class.

A Learner’s Instructional Permit is not required to start the classroom component of the Driver Education Program.

New drivers must obtain a Learner’s Instructional Permit before self-scheduling the behind-the-wheel component of the Driver Education Program.
