Frequently Asked Questions About the MDOT Driver Improvement Program

Traffic Violations

If you've received traffic violations and want to remove points from your driving record or avoid additional penalties, completing a driver improvement program can often help.

01

How will the MVA know I completed the program?
Drivers Edu will electronically report your completion to the MVA within 24 hours. If your license is suspended, contact the MVA Driver Improvement Division at 410-787-7817 to confirm reinstatement.

03

What if my ticket is from another state?
Drivers Edu will electronically submit your completion to MDOT via a secure reporting system within 24 hours of successful completion. If your ticket is from outside Maryland, it is your responsibility to forward the completion certificate to the issuing state to meet their court requirements or acceptance of the program.

02

What’s Next After Completing the Online Program?

After successfully completing the online Driver Improvement Program, the next step is to visit Drivers Edu Driving School to obtain your official MVA Certificate of Completion. This is an essential requirement to finalize the process.

04

What if I miss my due date?
Under Maryland law, driving on a suspended license is illegal and may result in severe penalties. If you miss your due date, your license may already be suspended. MDOT will determine the current status of your driving privileges. Do not drive under any circumstances. Contact the MVA.
